Foxton Locks Festival

June 2014

“There is nothing, absolutely nothing so much worth doing as messing around in boats.”
Ratty (Wind in the Willows)

And that is especially true if it is a warm midsummer weekend in the middle of the English Shires and there is a festival taking place on the land around the water, a festival with local artists playing live music and a licenced bar.

What more could you want?

A marquee filled with Arts and crafts.

Picnics

And here we are enticing customers with free tasting.  This worked a treat.  It was really satisfying to see people pick up something not expecting to be surprised and see their faces suddenly react to the unexpected flavour hit. No one argued with the "best ever chocolate brownie". This was a great hit.

Although this time footfall was high there were many stalls doing the same thing. I did not count the cake stalls but there were 10 fudge stalls. Too much competition.

However, we did good with repeat customers!

Market Harborough Market

May 2014

Here we are at our first promotional attempt.

As you can see it was not a busy day by any means.  But we learnt a lot:

Don't believe everything the person selling you the stall says. Do your own research.
Don't do a large variety, too much for customers to choose from.
Don't offer items with a short display life, too much waste.
Do entice the customers.
